Essential Medicines & Vaccines

The WAHO Essential Medicines & Vaccines programme addresses the low regulatory capacity and capability in the ECOWAS region which causes weak enforcement.In addition, the unclear regulatory requirements for the issuance of marketing authorization, the lack of reciprocal recognition of regulatory processes between Anglophone, Francophone and Lusophone countries putting constraints to human resource mobility and access to quality and affordable medicines in the region. Generally, the inadequate cooperation and vulnerable trust among ECOWAS Member States.
